Remote workers in Malta up by 20%

In Malta, the proportion of people who work from home increased from 2019 to 2021 by 20%.

According to a Eurofound poll, just 10% of Maltese worked from home in 2019, but this number increased to 26% by the start of the pandemic the following year and to 30% by 2021.

According to the most recent estimates, 41.7 million workers in the EU engaged in telework in 2021, doubling from 2019. Two out of ten European workers used telework in 2021; if the pandemic hadn’t happened, this percentage most likely wouldn’t have been attained until 2027.

According to the survey, 64% of Maltese indicated their employer has provided them with the necessary support to work from home.
